The exodus of more than 600,000 terrified Rohingya refugees necessitated an emergency response from the International Rescue Committee. The United Nations (UN) has declared the issue as ‘the most urgent refugee emergency in the world’ [Showkat Shafi/AI Jazeera]. Many of us have hence heard or come across the word ‘Rohingya’ frequently over the last week. But what is Rohingya? More precisely, who are they?

On October 12, Unicef at IIT held their second general body meeting to raise awareness about the current economic crisis of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela. Asma Suaibi, education chair, explained how children are undernourished, and parents cease sending them to school just simply because their funds are channeled towards food and medical supplies. The situation is degrading day-by-day. Here is what Marianne Neustadlt, a Venezuelan and an ex-student at IIT, has to tell us of her country:

On Thursday, September 21, UNICEF, IIT chapter, invited students to a movie night in Wishnick Hall, around 8 p.m. to 10 p.m to sensitize us on the situation of Syria. UNICEF IIT presented an Oscar winning documentary - “The White Helmets.” Here is an overview of the movie.
