The end of the 2011-12 academic year is upon us!  At this time, the Office of Financial Aid would like to take the time to remind students one final time to prepare for what is coming next, whether you are staying or leaving IIT.

Student financial aid requirements for the 2012-13 academic year can be found on the portal.  It is best to turn in any required documentation in the coming month so our office has enough time to process everything for all students prior to August.  If you have questions about any documentation needed, please contact us immediately at finaid@iit.edu.

Summer is a great time to consider how you can reduce your out-of-pocket or loan costs next year.  The financial aid website lists many outside organizations with money to award students through scholarships.  Taking the time to apply can be tedious, but worth the effort in the long run.  Reducing your overall loan debt can also be achieved by saving your summer job earnings to contribute towards your tuition payments in the fall.

Graduating students should begin preparing for loan repayment.  Whether joining the workforce or going for another degree, now is a good time to assess your student loan debt and consider what repayment will look like, now or in the future.  Graduating students must complete an Exit Interview prior to graduation at nslds.ed.gov.

Thanks to all students for a wonderful year!  By working together, we hope to serve students in continued and new ways.  Have a great summer!
