"In the grim darkness of the far future, there is only war." This ominous tagline summates the hopeless atmosphere of the 41st millennium perfectly. It is the dark tale of an era bereft of peace and progress that has enraptured countless millions of fans across the 21st Century. Those fans have congregated across the globe to build, paint, and ultimately battle with miniatures representing the forces contesting the innumerous worlds inhabiting the milky way galaxy. "Warhammer 40,000" or "Warhammer 40k" is the world’s most popular tabletop battle game. So, it’s no surprise that its popularity would reach the beloved nerd culture of the Illinois Tech. The Illinois Tech "Warhammer 40,000" Club is the place for all things 40k on campus! Club President Adam Miller, fourth year computer science major and 10 year hobby veteran, and club Treasurer Jack Hamilton (yours truly) welcome any and all to come and dive into the grim darkness of the far future!

Our goal is to provide a place for Illinois Tech's "Warhammer 40k" hobby community and provide an ideal environment for those interested in learning more about the hobby to do so from friendly, experienced veterans. We provide information on the game, its lore, and the hobby when it comes to building, painting, and playing on the tabletop. Weekly meetings seek to provide space for members to hobby and play together every Wednesday from 6:30 p.m. -9:30 p.m. in the McCormick Tribune Campus Center (MTCC) Colored Rooms, and all Illinois Tech students are invited to come drop in and join whenever they please!

Club activities are planned to extend to events both local and excursionary including tournaments, narrative campaigns, building/painting lessons, and painting competitions.

For those uncertain about the hobby, the "Warhammer 40k" Club will provide a place where they can experience "Warhammer 40k" hands on before they buy anything themselves. It is our express intent to provide ample materials to those who seek to learn more about the hobby to be able to do so without any monetary investment on their part, using club materials to learn and play. We also plan to provide opportunities for club members to build and paint club-owned models themselves.

The Illinois Tech "Warhammer 40k" Club also wants to extend a welcome to those interested in other tabletop battle games to join the community. Though no interest has yet been expressed, "40k"’s sister game, "Warhammer Age of Sigmar" remains very popular, as do other tabletop battle games such as "Flames of War," and the "40k" Club wants to keep open the possibility of students forming sections within the club for their preferred tabletop battle game. If you want to explore your interest in other tabletop battle games, then the "40k" Club would be more than willing to provide a place for you to do so!

So whether you fight for the glory of the Emperor of Mankind’s Imperium, the dark forces of the ruinous powers - the Chaos Gods, the preservation of the last remnants of the ancient Aeldari, the greater good of the optimistic and enlightened T’au, the galactic WAAAGH! of the Orks, the Tyranids consumption of the galaxy, or the mighty dynasties of the Necrons, we welcome you! For in the grim darkness of MTCC, there is only… The Illinois Tech Warhammer 40,000 Club!

Join us! Meetings are held every Wednesday, 6:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m., in the MTCC Colored Room!
